Piano Works
at Avaloch Farm | Boscawen, New Hampshire

Pianists on Retreat at Avaloch Farm is piano camp for adults. It is four days of lessons, rehearsals, coaching, repertoire class and as much practicing as you want. Pianists learn how to play with others and practice performing for others. On the last day, each participant performs their solo and duo repertoire at the Informal Recital, open to family and friends by invitation.
Pianists work with multiple teachers each day. The program balances the study of solo works with collaboration on a piece for four (or more) hands. In a single day, you might have individual lessons with one teacher, ensemble coaching with another and repertoire class with a different teacher. Repertoire class, called Works In Progress, happens daily in small groups, so pianists have ample opportunity to practice performing for others.
It is our privilege to take up residence at Avaloch Farm. The Concert Barn houses a Steinway D and a Steinway A, giving participants the experience of playing concert quality pianos during practice, repertoire class and the Informal Recital. Also held in the performance barn are three evening events – a participant-led “Piano Play-In,” a faculty recital and a guest artist recital.
Early afternoons are kept free for rest and recreation. Take a walk, read a book, visit the farmstand or other local points of interest, or do whatever it is that inspires you. The wonders of nature and the New Hampshire countryside are right outside your piano studio door.
