PIANO WORKS IN PROGRESS

Immersive Programs for the Adult Pianist

Works In Progress Sundays

Come as you are, play what you wish. Music is made to be shared.

Works In Progress Sundays is a repertoire class where pianists play their pieces for other pianists. It is not a recital – works need not be polished or complete. It is a space where each player takes a turn to play their piece and say a few words about the learning process.  The listeners may offer gentle comments that illuminate some aspect of the piece, and each pianist leaves with some new understanding and validation for the work they have done.

Classes are held at Rosemary’s home studio in the West Village of New York City, and virtual classes are held on Zoom. There are approximately six pianists in a class, and only the pianists who are playing (and the moderating teacher) are in attendance. Comments are constructive and encouraging, and the response that comes back to each player completes the cycle of sharing music with others.

Participation in the class is by donation. The suggested donation is $35 or whatever is reasonable for your budget. Piano Works In Progress is a non-profit 501(c)(3). Donations of any amount over $30 are fully tax deductible. We are grateful to the many individual donors who support Piano Works In Progress and make this program possible.
